Chellomedia will launch a second premium sports channel in the Dutch market this Friday. Known as Sport1.2, it will broadcast alongside Sport1. Both channels will be on the air 24 hours a day. The new channel will be available on most cable networks, but not on the DTH platform Canal Digitaal Satelliet.
Chellomedia has acquired a number of sports rights including live football from the main European competitons including the Premier League, the German Bundesliga, the Italian Serie A and Spain’s Primera Division. This created a need for a second full time sports channel.
Chellomedia will continue to offer additional live feeds on Sport1 Extra, which can supply up to six simultaneous programmes from major events such as Wimbledon.
This weekend, the new Dutch live football channel Eredivsie Live will also become available on most cable, DTH, IPTV and DTT platforms. The channel will show all Dutch Eredivise games live.
