Sky has announced two new appointments to support the strengthening of its mobile operations. David Gibbs is promoted to become general manager for mobile while Tim Hussain joins the company as its first head of mobile advertising.
Gibbs was previously in Sky’s commercial group, working on Sky Mobile TV, 24-7 Football, Sky Anytime on Mobile, and the syndication of Sky content to network operator portals. He will now oversee the day-to-day operations of Sky’s mobile products and services while continuing relationships with mobile operators in the UK and Ireland.
Tim Hussein joins Sky Digital Media, the broadcaster’s dedicated ad sales house for online and mobile from AOL where he was head of mobile. He takes up the newly created post of head of mobile advertising. He will work with media agencies to exploit brand opportunities.
Sky has been offering mobile content for a number of years and launched its own Sky Mobile TV platform in September 2005.
