Telefonica’s IPTV platform Imagenio is launching an aggressive new pricing strategy.
From today subscribers to Telefonica’s ADSL service will be able to add Imageno for an additional €3 per month. The fee covers all of the basic channels including those found on the country’s DTT platform and buythrough to movies and sports included in the pay-per-view offer.
The total package of telephone, internet and TV will cost subscribers €43.90 per month. It is viewed by Telefonica management as a means to increase the total monthly revenue derived from subscribers.
Imagenio has a market share of around 30.5% on 576,000 subscribers. Its IPTV rival Orange, which launched in 2006, has this year so far doubled subscriber numbers to 92,000.
