Before the end of the year the four Dutch RTL channels will start to promote internet games as a replacement for the Call TV shows, which were broadcast till the end of last year, CEO Bert Habets told the Algemeen Dagblad newspaper.
Viewers can participate by sending text messages via their mobile phone, but will then be directed to special game websites. The exact format is still under development, but the broadcaster has been searching for a replacement of the Call TV programmes, which were suspended late last year by all commercial broadcasters in The Netherlands.
At the moment, both RTL and SBS broadcast a variety of programmes during day and overnight. These include more homeshopping, astrology and late night erotic and dating programmes.
