The new BADR-6 satellite is now officially part of the Arabsat fleet of satellites at its TV hotspot (BADR) at 26 degrees East, the operator announced today. The in-orbit tests were successfully completed and EADS Astrium, the prime contractor for the satellite, handed the new satellite over to Arabsat.
BADR-6 was successfully launched by an Ariana 5 ECA on July 7, 2008. The satellite has a payload that consists of 44 active transponders in C and Ku band. It will be used primarily for DTH services.
