The Czech portal iDnes.cz has launched an internet-delivered TV channel named iDnes.tv.
According to local reports, the service offers a mix of programming including news, short films and documentaries and aims to eventually have the same kind of viewership as the public broadcaster’s second channel, CT2.
IDnes.tv is owned by the media company Mafra, and does not at present require a licence the Czech Radio and TV Council (RRTV).
However, this is likely to change when new European legislation comes into effect in the Czech Republic at the end of next year.
