The Czech Republic remains by far the most lucrative market for CME, though Romania is a close second and Ukraine growing rapidly in importance.
Latest results published by the broadcasting, content creation and internet company show that its net revenues in Q2 across the six CEE markets it was present in amounted to $305,391,000 (€194,537,625), or 41% more than in the corresponding period 12 months earlier.
Its net income rose by an even more impressive 95% to $67,604,000. CME’s net revenues for H1 were meanwhile 45% up year-on-year at $528,861,000, and net income 140% higher at $82,499,000.
In the Czech Republic, CME’s interests generated $112,570,000 in revenues in Q2 ($80,544,000 in Q2 2007), while segment EBITDA stood at $71,204,000 ($47,595,000). The corresponding figures for Romania were $79,842,000 ($52,224,000) and $38,293,000 ($22,530,000) respectively.
CME expanded its presence to a seventh CEE market (Bulgaria) earlier this week when it secured 80% stakes in the national terrestrial channel TV2 and sports cable channel Ring TV for around $172 million.
