Harmonic increased its second quarter net sales by 25% to $89.3 million (€56.71 million) in the period ending June 27, 2008. In the first six months of 2008, net sales were $176.6 million, an increase of 25% compared to 2007.
In a statement the broadcast and on demand video delivery technology company said the revenue rise reflected increased shipments to cable, satellite and telco customers. Sales outside the United States accounted for 50% of revenues in the second quarter, rising from 46% in the same period of 2007.
Strong gross margins were maintained in the second quarter, the result of the introduction of new products, while cost efficiencies and product design efficiencies were also brought to bear.
The second quarter figures include charges of around $0.5 million as a result of the costs in establishing Harmonic’s new European support centre.
GAAP net income for the second quarter of 2008 was $25.5 million, up from $6.2 million in 2007. The company is forecasting second half sales of between $175 -185 million.
