Take-up of new and additional services is growing amongst Poland’s leading cable operators.
According to data supplied by the Polish Chamber of Electronic Communications (PIKE) to Broadband TV News, the take up of digital TV has been most pronounced at Multimedia Polska, which saw its subscriber figure grow from 5,000 to 40,000 in the first five months of this year.
However, Vectra had the most digital TV homes (120,000) and UPC, which launched its digital TV service in May, is now expected to become the major contributor to growth in the sector.
UPC was the leading provider of internet access at the end of May (326,000 subscribers, as opposed to 300,000 five months earlier), with Multimedia Polska in second place (240,000 v 190,000).
Multimedia Polska was also the leading provider of telephony (181,000 v 159,000) at the end of this May. PIKE also says that the take-up of DTH services in Poland has slowed down, with Cyfrowy Polsat and Cyfra+ adding only 70,000 and 40,000 subscribers in the first five months of this year.
