Orange Sport, the new Polish sports channel operated by the incumbent telco TPSA, will debut this Friday (July 25) at the same time as the start of the country’s premier football league (Ekstraklasa) season.
Speaking to Broadband TV News, Dominique Lesage, TPSA’s director of corporate communications and content, said that the service will offer coverage of other football leagues and other sports. It will also include sports lifestyle programmes.
Although Orange Sport is seen as the prelude to the launch of Poland’s fourth DTH platform later this year, Lesage emphasised that the service should not be regarded as a DTH platform as such, but rather a triple play offer in which content will be provided by Canal+ Cyfrowy and TPSA will build up its own programming on satellite.
Importantly, it did not wish to be seen as a competitor to the existing DTH operations in Poland
