Trojka, the sports-based third channel operated by the Slovak public broadcaster STV, will only be available in HD to a limited number of viewers.
Local reports indicate the service, which is due to make its debut on August 8, ahead of the Beijing Olympics, will be carried in HD by the pre-pay DTH platform SkyLink and IPTV services operated by T-Com and Orange.
SkyLink will also offer Trojka in SD, as will cable operators including the market leader, UPC. Trojka will revert to a completely SD-based format following the Olympic Games.
