Dutch public broadcaster NPO plans to introduce a mobile version of the popular catch-up TV service Uitzending Gemist in September. The online version already receives millions of requests every month, so the broadcaster now plans to extend the availability to mobile phones.
The mobile catch-up TV version will not offer full programmes, but only shorter clips, as the NPO does not expect people to watch entire programmes on their mobile devices, but rather go for ‘video snacking’.
The new service will make use of the technical mobile platform that was developed for NOS and was introduced just before the summer.
