UKTV has appointed Paul Moreton as the channel head of Watch the broadcaster’s new entertainment channel. Steve Hornsey becomes channel head of Alibi, the crime channel that will replace UKTV Drama.
Moreton is currently the channel head of UKTV Gold and UKTV Drama. He will continue to oversee GOLD, the comedy channel that will replace UKTV Gold from October 7. Watch is positioning itself as a linear catch-up TV service with modern classics – the radio term might be recurrent – programmes such as Torchwood, Mistresses and Larkrise to Candleford. Watch will also be the new home of chat show hosts Richard and Judy.
Hornsey is being promoted from deputy editor of UKTV Drama and UKTV Gold. The new Alibi channel will feature crime dramas including Sherlock Holmes, Taggart and Waking the Dead.
