Freesat has announced the addition of 22 BBC and ITV regional variations to its channel line-up. The launch of additional services has been delayed because of the need to configure the technical parameters with those of Sky that broadcasts from the same orbital slot.
The channels will appear automatically for BBC One (Channel 101) and ITV1 (103) using the postcode database system built in to the Freesat receivers. Previously viewers without their own local region received BBC One London and ITV1 Central.
