Three new appointments, all with experience of the US cable market, have been appointed to the board of Virgin Media. James A. Chiddix, Andrew Cole and Steven J. Simmons have all been named as non-executive directors.
Chiddix is best known in Europe for his spell as head of OpenTV, where he remains on the board, but the highlight of his 35 years in the cable industry is the 15 years he spent as CTO of Time Warner Cable.
Cole has been chief marketing officer of Kansas-based handset insurance company Asurion for the past year. He was president of communications and media consultancy CSMG Adventis and has also held positions at AT Kearney and the UK’s LEK Consulting Group.
Simmons is the chairman and CEO of Simmons/Patriot Media & Communications, LLC, named in 2006 as US Independent Cable Operator of the Year. Prior to his cable industry career he was an associate director of the Domestic Policy Staff at the White House where his responsibilities included helping to define domestic communications policy.
