SES has announced plans to combine the activities of SES Americom and SES New Skies into a single operating unit. The new segment will be headed by Robert Bedmarek, currently president and CEO of SES New Skies.
However, although the segment will have a single management team the two satellite fleets will continue to be independently owned and operated. “By creating this new segment and combining the experienced management teams of SES Americom and SES New Skies, SES will improve its overall operating performance, while strengthening its competitiveness and better positioning the company for future growth,” said Romain Bausch, president and CEO of SES.
Bausch said the new segment would be able to approach its markets with an increased level of focus and flexibility. The movement also follows the recent departure of Ed Horowitz who has stood down as president and CEO of Americom after three years at the helm.
Bedmarek was already a recognised satellite industry expert when he joined SES in January 2002. He subsequently went on to lead the acquisiton of Nerw Skies before becoming the company’s president in 2007.
