All French overseas territories are to have DTT broadcasts by the first quarter of 2010, according Yves Jégo, the minister of overseas territories. The initial offer will add 10 channels to the current analogue service. By 2011, all countries should have the complete terrestrial offer of free-to-air channels.
The announcements follow the publication of a report by the media authority CSA about digital broadcasts in the overseas territories. The report also expects terrestrial HD broadcast in MPEG-4 to begin sometime in 2011.
