Netia has become the largest alternative carrier in Poland by acquiring Tele2 Polska for an enterprise value of €29.1 million.
By taking over the company, its broadband internet subscriber base has risen to over 300,000, while the fixed voice subscriber total now stands at over 1.2 million.
Netia, which lists Novator Telecom Poland (29.27%) and Third Avenue Management (20.54%) as its leading shareholders, aims to have up to one million broadband customers by 2010.
Separately, the Polish government says it expects to conclude talks about the sale of the state’s 4.05% stake in the incumbent telco TPSA to France Telecom next month.
France Telecom already owns 48.58% of TPSA.
