BUCHAREST BUSINESS BREAKFAST: HBO has begun to undertake local HD productions in Romania. According to Carmen Harabagiu, Country Manager, HBO Romania, the first two cutting edge documentaries shot in the format will premiere in Q4 2008, while stand up comedy shows shot in HD will be shown this autumn.
Furthermore, locally produced fiction product HBO will also soon make its debut. Harabagiu added that HBO is ready to launch the same digital services in Romania as are available in other CEE countries when the platforms are technically capable of delivering them. However, no contracts have as yet been signed. It is expected that UPC will be one of the first operators to offer HBO digital services in Romania.
