Macedonia’s State Broadcasting Council has approved five licences for satellite TV channels, announcing at the same time a public competition for a further eight.
The Council decided to grant licences to the TV stations Alfa, Kanal 5, Sky Net, A2 and Era. Another four applicants fulfilled the requirements but were denied licences because of the limited number that were planned.
They included Tinex, a group comprised of broker houses and Investment Fund, George Atanasovski and Bojo Andreevski. Licences for special format satellite broadcasting have meanwhile been issued to the TV station Sitel and another two applicants.
