123WebTV has begun a live beta service. The internet TV venture backed by Top Up TV founder Ian West brings together the best of the television on the web through a EPG-style portal.
Around 200 channels are available representing around 100,000 programmes. The content is a mix of free, live and on demand, usually steamed direct from the host broadcaster.
The concept of the service is in many ways similar to that outlined by the proposed Kangaroo, backed by the UK’s public service broadcasters, however in addition to content from the BBC and Channel 4, 123WebTV also points towards Al Jazeera, Fox News, CNN, Comedy Central, Sci-Fi and National Geographic.
