Jetix Europe has announced it is to integrate the management of its French channel operations with those of the Disney Channel. It is the second such announcement from Jetix that brings together the channel with those of its parent The Walt Disney Company.
Yesterday it was announced that Jetix and Disney are bringing together their European distribution operations under a single team and follows a full review of its strategic options. Jetix has been hit by falling carriage rates and came close to leaving the CanalSat platform after protracted negotiations.
“We looked into various options for how we could most profitably run our channel in France going forward. We believe that licensing it to Disney will maintain its success as one of France’s most-watched kids TV channels, whilst also reducing the operational cost and ensuring profitability for all of our shareholders,” said Paul Taylor, CEO, Jetix Europe. “It will also position Jetix France much closer to our parent company’s French kids channels, allowing both parties to share resources and expertise in this competitive market.”
The Disney Channels France team will manage Jetix’ French channel operations alongside its existing portfolio of Disney Channel, Playhouse Disney and Disney Cinemagic.
