A consortium of Media Broadcast and the four main mobile operators in Austria have launched their mobile TV service with 15 TV channels and five radio stations. Hutchison 3G Austria, ONE and mobilkom austria offer their subscribers the new service, which includes the Nokia N77 hand set.
Initially, reception is possible in the cities of Vienna, Salzburg, Innsbruck and Klagenfurt. However, it will be expanded to reach over 50% of the population before the end of the year.
The 15 channels available are ORF1, ORF2, ATV, Puls4, Pro7Austria, RTL, Sat1Österreich, VOX, LAOLA1.tv, LaLaTV, Red Bull, RTL 2, N24, Super RTL and KroneTV. ORF offers its first channel and live coverage of Euro 2008.
Apart from the regular broadcasters, the mobile TV service includes a mobile version of the online sports TV channel LAOLA1.tv. LaLa TV is a youth oriented channel from Universal Music Media with music clips, cartoons, extreme sports, news from Puls4, mobisoaps and more.
