Dutch tax authorities have closed down the operations of commercial broadcaster RNN7 and impounded all its technical facilities. It is the second time the taxman has taken action against the broadcaster, which seems to have financial difficulties.
Last week, UPC stopped distribution of the Rotterdam based channel without citing a reason. However, insiders believe this was because the channel did not fulfil its financial obligations. Earlier, CAIWay also stopped distribution citing non-payment as the reason. With the closure of the channel, all other broadcasts over the Canal Digitaal DTH platform, KPN’s IPTV service and Ziggo cable networks have ceased.
