German DVB-H operator Mobile 3.0 has launched in four cities across the country. Mobile TV is now available to viewers in Hamburg, Munich, Frankfurt and Hanover. The line-up consists of Das Erste (ARD, ZDF, RTL, VOX, SAT.1, PRO 7, n-tv and N24 as well as a number of radio stations.
Interestingly, the two public channels broadcast free-to-air and will continue to do so, in line with the strict policy of the German public broadcasters to have their programming available free-to-air en unencrypted on all platforms. There are mobile TV hand sets available from Nokia and Samsung, but only in very limited numbers.
