Spanish commercial network Telecino has launched its own catch-up TV service. MiTele provides online users with a simple interface divided into programme genres. It is also possible to search within individual categories.
By registering for the La Tele de service it is possible to save individual videos to a personalised area of the site, email suggestions to friends and capture images.
“The whole TV industry is witnessing a massive paradigm shift in how viewers consume content and how they are becoming less reliant on traditional fixed schedules,” said Chema Bautista, head of Multiplatform at Telecinco.
Cambridge-based Velocix, the former CacheLogic, has provided its Digital Asset Delivery Network. The technology effectively provides an ‘Internet Fast Lane”, speeding up the content transfer.
Telecinco is Spain’s most popular commercial channel. It is 50% owned by the Italia group Mediaset.
