Leonid Melamed is likely to be appointed the new CEO of Sistema later today (May 29), according to local sources
The move would be significant on a number of fronts, given that Melamed is currently the head of Sistema-backed MTS, Russia’s leading mobile company.
Besides signalling a possible merger between MTS and Comstar, whose interests include the IPTV operation Stream, it could pave the way for the long-awaited privatisation of the telco Svyazinvest, in which Sistema already has a 25% plus one share interest.
