Russia’s broadband market is expected to grow by 40% a year to reach a value of $6 billion (€3.8 billion) by 2013, according to Kirill Stepanenko, deputy head of the Economic Ministry’s transportation and communications restructuring department.
Quoted in the local press, he added that the market is currently worth $1 billion and accounts for 72% of the fixed line segment in terms of revenues.
All told, some 5 million homes in the country now subscribe to broadband internet, with the highest penetration rate, as may well be expected, being 58% in the capital, Moscow.
