Israeli cablenet HOT Telecommunications Systems has introduced a suite of IP-based digital video solutions from Harmonic. The company is moving from an ASI to an IP-based headend infrastructure, enabling it to reduce network costs, and at the same time introducing architecture capable of scaling up to advanced service support.
HOT has deployed Harmonic’s DiviCom Electra 7000 HD MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) encoders and Broadcast Network Gateway edge devices. Statistical multiplexing is performed by the ProStream 1000 stream processing platform with DiviTrackMX at the IP headend, as well as DiviTrackIP for HOT’s HD service, while NMX Digital Service Manager is used to monitor and control the enhanced video service.
HOT also uses Harmonic’s HFC broadband access solutions for efficient transport across the RF network.
