ANGA Cable – Cologne. The channels from the RTL Group and ProSiebenSat1 will be part of the headend in the sky project from Tele Columbus and Eutelsat’s Kabelkiosk. Negotiations about carriage are now in the final stages with RTL and have been completed with ProSiebenSat.1.
Conracts have also been signed with a number of smaller channels including BBC World News, Tier TV, Sportdigital TV, Volksmusic TV, Luxe TV, the financial channel DAF and home & gardening channel XX Home. These channels will be in addition to the current KabelKiosk offer.
The venture encompasses a portfolio of basic private digital channels to be made available to Tele Columbus digital cable subscribers and other network operators. Starting with two transponders, Tele Columbus plans to ramp up to five transponders hosting between 50 and 60 digital channels and services. The initial offer of around 30 private German channels will be multiplexed, encrypted and uplinked by Eutelsat. There will be dual encryption using both Conax and NDS. TeleColumbus will use NDS encryption.
The platform is also an important step in extending the digital service provided by KabelKiosk to independent cable operators and also to other interested operators.
KabelKiosk already delivers 60 German and international channels to more than 230 cable network operators in Germany.
