Catch Cast Can

May 26, 2008 15.49 Europe/London By Donald Koeleman

ANGA Cable – Cologne. DVEO/KBS Consulting, hall 10.2 stand K66.

DVEO and its distributor KBS are bringing two new MPEG distribution products to ANGA that have never before been shown in Europe, the IP Caster! FD MPEG-2 HD Video Transmitter/Receiver and the eYe Catcher!/DVB-C small Form Factor Digital Cable HDTV Modulator.

DVEO presents its IP Caster FD as an affordable alternative to dedicated satellite links. It is an IP gateway that connects HD digital video equipment to computer networks. It also sends and receives both single and multi-programme HD MPEG-2 transport streams, converting HD MPEG-2 transport streams from DVB-ASI to IP in real time, transmitting the HD MPEG-2 transport streams over ethernet-based IP networks and converting them back to DVB-ASI upon receipt. Separate transmitter and receiver-only versions are also available.

The eYe Catcher/DVB-C modulator sends live or recorded video streams to multiple HD monitors via a DVB-C(able) signal. The input can be IP, USB, DVB-ASI, or a stored transport streams from a hard drive. One DVB-C RF channel can have up to one HD and one SD stream or three SD streams. Additional optional output formats include USA-QAM, DVB-T/H, DVB-S/S2, ISDB-T, and T-DMB.

The card is field upgradable to include these additional output formats, by buying additional licences. The eYe Catcher/DVB-C is suitable for digital signage, trade shows or STB testing.

KBS Consulting is also showing DVEO’s line of DVB Master! transmit/receive cards and the HD Spigot Out! real time HDMI to HD-SDI converter.
