Tandberg’s suiting cable broad

May 21, 2008 13.10 Europe/London By Donald Koeleman

ANGA Cable 2008 Tandberg Television, hall 10.2 stand E41

Ericsson’s video division Tandberg Television will be demonstrating what it says is a cost-effective and flexible suite of solutions for migration to digital and introduction of advanced services.

Highlights will include Tandberg Television’s Edge QAM, the EQ8096, which enables a clear migration to IP through its support of the CableLabs DOCSIS 3.0 and the M-CMTS standards, and the OpenStream VOD back office solution, already deployed in Europe by UPC Netherlands, TV Cabo and Multimedia Polska.

The line-up of both cable and telco networks products also include Tandberg’s MPEG-4 AVC HD and SD encoders, the IP Based ISIS 8000 cable head-end solution, a line of multi-service descramblers, a low cost cable solution designed for emerging markets and the Tandberg iPlex UltraCompression, high density, high performance HD and SD encoding and transcoding system.

In addition to the OpenStream® Digital Services platform, Tanberg Television’s Xport® on-demand content production solution andMediaPath® asset management system will also be on show.

This integrated suite of on-demand and interactive tools is designed to enable enhanced television services and the introduction of interactive and non-linear advertising.

As the growth of on-demand and time shift TV puts increased pressure on advertising business models, content owners, network operators and advertisers are looking for sophisticated technologies that will allow them to engage with TV viewers in a more personal, targeted way.
