ANGA Cable: Broadband Summit May 27-29

May 17, 2008 07.55 Europe/London By Robert Briel

ANGA Cable, the trade fair for cable, broadband and satellite, will open with 369 exhibitors from 29 countries in Cologne, Germany on May 27. The principal topics of the exhibition are hybrid network solutions for modern broadband networks (NGN), IPTV, Video on Demand and the newest digital receiver models including HDTV and PVR.

The organisers say that gross exhibition space is more than 22,000 sqm due to enlarged stands for many of exhibitors compared to 2007. For the first time, 25 companies have booked a booth with more than 100 sqm floor space.

The service and networking offering for visitors has also been expanded: The Wireless Internet Lounge will be provided for trade visitors to keep up with their office work during their stay at Cologne. On the second day of the fair (May 28) there will be an After Show Happy Hour in the Beer Garden next to the exhibition hall from 6.00 to 9.00 p.m. with free access for all visitors.

This year’s Congress ANGA Cable Convention is especially international with high-level speakers, such as the CEOs/COOs of Kabel Deutschland, Unitymedia, SES Astra, Eutelsat, Tele Columbus, Kabel Baden-Württemberg, HanseNet, UPC Austria, Telenet Belgium, NetCologne, Pepcom and Wilhelm tel.

The extensive technology programme presents all important trends and developments of the cable and broadband sector in nine trade panels with 37 international experts. Eight of the 18 presentations and discussion panels will be held in English. For all events there will be a simultaneous translation German/English and vice versa.

ANGA’s Managing Director Peter Charissé said in a prepared statement: “This year, the available floor space was fully booked faster than ever. Our exhibitor list looks like the “Who’s Who” of communications technology. Once again our position as Europe’s leading market place for cable, broadband and satellite is strengthened. Besides the internationalisation, we are putting more emphasis on broadband topics and services for visitors and exhibitors.“
