The three Dutch cable companies owned by Zesko Holding – Casema, @Home and Multikabel – will from today on be known as Ziggo. With 3.3million homes connected, the new entity is by far the biggest operator in the country, with UPC following with 2.2 million subscribers.
The new brand will be introduced with a marketing campaign including a 2 minute commercial to be broadcast tonight during prime time on various channels. In the past week all subscribers to one of the three operators have been informed by direct mail about the upcoming name change.
Ziggo serves 3.3 million homes, has 750,00 telephony customers and 1.4 million broadband connections. The number of digital homes was 908,000 as of March 30, 2008 – an increase of 74,000 homes during the first quarter of the year. The company is owned by private equity firms Warburg-Pincus and Cinven.
In the next few weeks Ziggo will announce full details of its new VOD offer, which will launch before the summer in selected areas, with a full blown roll-out foreseen in September.
