Portugal Telecom closed the first quarter with 47,000 clients for its IPTV service Meo.
The operator added 26,000 new clients during the first three months of 2008, more than doubling its client base at the end of the last quarter of 2007. Meo has been increasing in popularity since the start of the year, with net additions of 7,000 in January, 8,000 in February and 11,000 in March. It is worth noting that the figures do not include subscribers to the Meo satellite TV service launched at the beginning of April.
Meo’s IPTV offer, available in district capitals, gives access to a total of 107 TV channels, while the satellite offer is slightly reduced, with 75 TV channels.
