Premiere has announced a new pricing structure that reduces the number of packages to four. Starting July 1, subscribers will be able to select from Premiere Sport, Premiere Fussball Bundesliga, Premiere Film and Premiere Family, each at €19.99 per month and offering savings of up to 44% for those taking more than one selection. Existing subscribers will pay the new prices when their existing contract comes to an end.
The new strategy combines the majority of the sports offer – the exception being the Bundesliga – into a single pack. Premiere Blockbuster and Premiere Entertainment will be combined into the new Premiere Film. Premiere Thema is renamed Premiere Family.
Two additional packages, Premiere HDTV and Premiere Star, can be purchased in conjunction with the four standard packages or as standalone products.
The announcement came as Premiere announced Q1 losses of €28.1 million, blaming piracy for a slow down in revenues and subscribers. Nevertheless, Premiere is still ahead of where it was a year ago. 4,242,467 subscribers as of March 31, 2008 comparing favourably with the 3,460,572 of March 31, 2007.
