Pace has won a significant set-top box order from BT Vision. In the first major contract announcement since the acquisition of the set-top box division of Royal Philips Electronics, Pace will supply BT with the next generation V-box.
The PVR features twin tuners for DTT and IPTV reception. It is HD capable, though little if any HD content is actually available through BT Vision. The V-box uses Microsoft Mediaroom IPTV middleware and Nagravision CA. The new version brings a new design, improved energy efficiency and a more powerful processor to power more advanced interactive applications. Deliveries are expected to commence in 2009.
Philips was the original manufacturer for the IPTV service at launch in December 2006, though BT has subsequently placed an order with Motorola.
