Nagravision has signed a new long-term agreement with Kabel Deutschland (KDG) that will see the operator upgrade to the latest version of the Swiss technology’s company’s conditional access system.
This autumn KDG will upgrade its smart cards to the latest version. The cablenet will advise its subscribers about the swapout, which is fully supported by the installed base of receivers.
“We are very pleased to extend co-operation with Nagravision to ensure a solid security and rich feature set within our cable network,” said Manuel Cubero, KDG’s chief commercial officer.
KDG, which operates in 13 of Germany’s 16 states, has been a Nagravision client since 2003 and supplies its services to around 9 million households.
Earlier this year it was announced that the Premiere pay-TV platform would continue to use Nagra, but only as part of a handover to the NDS VideoGuard CA system. Premiere content will clearly continue to be secured by Nagra over much of Germany’s cable network.
