The Bulgarian telco market was worth BNG3.9 billion (€2 billion) in 2007, or almost 30% more than the previous year, according to data supplied by the country’s Communications Regulation Commission (CRC).
Although much of the debate in the country is currently focused on mobile services and the activities of Global, Mobitel and Vivatel, Bulgaria also has a small though growing IPTV sector.
In the absence of services from the incumbent telco BTC, the market leader is Vestitel, an alternative carrier whose parent company Overgas is backed by Russsia’s Gazprom.
