The German cable operator Orion Cable said it has closed the sale of a number of its networks to Kabel Deutschland KDG. Early April regulators approved the sale, which netted the operator about €500 million.
With the sale, KDG has acquired 1.1 million households. At the same time, companies belonging to the Orion Cable group have acquired 91% of the stock in Primacom AG, adding 1 million homes in and around Berlin and the eastern part of the country.
The Orion Cable group, which also includes TeleColumbus, now claims to be the third largest German operator and the single largest Level 4 provider.
