Deutsche Telekom and the Greek government are understood to have reached an agreement on the future ownership of the incumbent Greek telco OTE.
According to unconfirmed reports, it will see Deutsche Telekom acquire a further 5-8% stake from the Greek state, aside from the 19.9% it plans to buy from Marfin Investment Group (MIG), for €2.55 billion.
The Greek state currently holds a 24.96% direct and 3.07% indirect stake in OTE. It is generally believed that Deutsche Telekom is buying into OTE to secure control of the mobile operator Cosmote, the latter’s most valuable asset.
