Portugal Telecom has as expected become the principal bidder for DTT licences in the country. Sweden’s Airplus has also submitted a bid for a licence that covers pay-TV services alone.
This leaves PT as the sole bidder for Multiplex A, which will carry the four free to air channels. Separately, PT has reached agreement with Media Capital to transmit its analogue signal until switchover in 2011. It had already acquired the Reti TV signal distribution network from Media Capital.
Airplus is probably best known for its PlusTV subscription package in Finland, supported by Baker Capital and Provider Venture Partners
