Russia’s leading cable operator National Telecommunications (Nafta Moskva) has undergone a change of ownership.
Local reports indicate that the company has been acquired by National Mediagroup, which is paying over $1 billion (€627.8 million) for a 51% stake, along with Severstal and Surgutneftgaz, which will each hold 12%.
Three unnamed banks will hold the remaining shares. National Mediagroup was formed recently by the entrepreneur Yuri Kovalchuk and its interests include a majority (68%) stake in Ren TV. National Telecommunications claims around 4.5 million cable subscribers.
