The Italian public broadcaster RAI has rebranded its international channel RAI International as RAItalia. The channel replaces the former RAI International channel, aimed at Italians living abroad.
Rai International broadcasts three different programming schedules: Raitalia 1 reaches North America and Latin America, Raitalia 2 goes to Australia and Raitalia 3 to Asia and Africa. The version that can be seen in Europe has merged with RAI Med, which catered for viewers in the Mediterranean area and includes Arab language programming. The channel is available free-to-air following requests from the Italian parliament.
For viewers in Europe, the three national public channels RAI Uno, RAI Due and RAI Tre are also available free-to-air on satellite.
