The new digital TV channels about to launch in the Czech Republic may soon account for up to one in four of all viewers.
Local sources believe that they could capture up to a combined market share of 25% despite the current dominance of the ‘big four’ services TV Nova, Prima TV and the public broadcaster’s two channels CT1 and CT2, which claim a combined viewing figure of around 90%.
One of the first of the new digital TV channels to launch will be news-based Z1, which should make its debut in late May/early June. It is likely to be followed by TV Barrandov and Febio TV.
