Pre-roll video advertising will be seen on BBC.com as part of an introduction of embedded news video clips on the website by BBC World. The move is part of the redesign of the BBC’s web services and integration into a single multimedia newsteam.
The new service will embed around 30 international news reports into pages that relate to the story concerned. Hourly news summaries will also be available. Previously video has been shown in a standalone player.
The advertising will only be seen outside of the UK and will hope to draw in the 29 million non-UK unique users that visit the site each month.
Global Brands Allianz and Shell have signed up as exclusive launch advertising partners and will be seen exclusively for the first two days of the service.
