The Austrian commercial national broadcaster Puls 4 said it will start to encrypt its broadcasts on the Astra satellite from May 14th. From that date onwards, reception will be restricted to people living in Austria.Puls 4 will be added to the channels on the Cryptoworks card also used for reception of the public channels from ORF.
“By encrypting our programmes we will be able to offer better programming including acquired movies and TV series,” a spokesperson for the channel said. He added that cable TV and DTT viewers will see no change. All current holders of an ORF smart card will automatically be authorised to see Puls 4 as well.
