Estonia is no longer regarded as a target market by Finnish broadcasters such as MTV3 and Nelonen, according to Krista Leppiko, the head of Viasat’s operation in Estonia.
Speaking to the Estonian press, she added that such channels are not interested in paying for movie and TV programme rights in Estonia and there is nothing that can be done about this by the providers of digital TV services.
Finnish channels already rank low in Estonia, where the market leader TV3 claimed an audience share of 20% in March, moving ahead of Kanal 2 (19.7%) for the first time in months.
