The Belgian IPTV operator Belgacom TV will launch its new HD service next Monday, April 14 with seven HD channels as well as numerous HD titles in its VOD library. Subscriptions to the HD package will cost €9.95 a month.The HD line-up will contain the channels Discovery HD, Disney Cinemagic HD, Exqi, HD1, History Channel HD, Melody Zen and Luxe TV HD. Video-on-demand titles will come from Warner Bros, Disney and independent producers. Belgacom plans to add further channels and more studios during the next few months.
The operator said the HD service will be available in about half the households in the country. Customers can buy a dedicated HD STB for €199 or rent one for a monthly fee of €6.00.
