Russia’s leading mobile company MTS saw its revenues rise by around 25% to over $8 billion (€5.89 billion) last year, according to president and CEO Leonid Melamed.
Speaking to the local press, he added that its subscriber numbers in 2007 increased by 17% to 85 million thanks to the provision of more music, video content and internet access.
Melamed also said that MTS’s focus was on expanding in its core market (the former Soviet Union) and both Africa and Asia rather than Europe.
There is as yet no indication when MTS, which is 52.8%-owned by Sistema, will launch its long-awaited mobile TV service.
